Large, plastic bobbin holding brown thread. There is a hole in the center for storage, as well as three triangular shapes with rounded tops that meet at the center hole (looks like a biohazard/radioactive symbol when viewed from the top). |

Donated by: Eugene and Leah Barry's Children-Bettie, Lana, Pauline, Eugene Jr. Roger, Elese, and Steven. Donation date: 12/9/2017 Eugene and Leah Barry were married in November, 1940. Mr. Barry was called to serve in World War II in 1941. He purchased this Singer Sewing Machine for his wife Leah and she sewed dresses after their three young daughters were born. During WWII, flour was purchased in printed cloth sacks. Those sacks were often used to construct clothing. Leah made pinafore dresses for her daughters to attend church. After WWII, Mr. Barry established a very successful business in Colorado Springs, Barry Motor Sales. Tragically he was killed in an auto accident in Kumus, Texas in 1952. Leah remarried and relocated to Arizona. She passed away in 2012. |
