A black and white photograph of Marx Lurig Sr. and Marx Lurig Jr. standing in front of their business storefront: Lurig's Western Wear which began as a general merchandise store until Lurig Jr. added western wear to their repetoir, increasing the store's popularity. In the photograph, Lurig Sr. stands facing the photograph wearing a white ten-gallon hat, thick-rimmed circular glasses, a thick mustache, a long sleeve shirt accented by a scarf, tie, and vest, high waisted trousers, and simple shoes. His son-Lurig Jr.-stands sideways to his right facing his father, but looks over his right shoulder at the camera or viewer wearing a button down western-style long sleeve shirt, conch accented belt, and ankle-high cowboy boots. Behind the men are many signs hung in the store front including one that reads: "LORIG'S GENERAL MDSE"; another that gives pricing information, and another that announced a "Prayer Meetin" at "The Ole Church". |
