Description |
Ceramic vase, Van Briggle Art Pottery. This tall slender turquoise blue vase has the figure of a nude woman coming from an open flower at the rim. The rim sweeps up from the woman's left arm to a point opposite the figure, then sweeps back down to her waistline. The floral motif is continued around the bulge of the vase below the rim and down the side of the case opposite the woman. |

Called, "Il Bel Legato" (The Beautiful Legacy), the vase was designed for the 100th anniversary of Van Briggle's death (July 4, 1904). It came from the firing done during the CSPM Symposium on Van Briggle Art Pottery (June 10-12, 2004). |
