This collection consists of a history of the Spaulding family in Colorado Springs that was compiled by Gerald Spaulding. The Francis C. Spaulding family settled in Colorado Springs in 1871 and established one the the city's first hotels, the Spaulding House. A second branch, the George Hamer Spaulding family, arrived in 1919 and established a farm to the east of town. The collection includes genealogical information stretching back to 1619 and the arrival of the Spauldings in Jamestown, VA, contributions made by members of the Spaulding family, such as hospitals, books, and commercial undertakings, entries from Lee Spauldings 1873-1874 diary that details day-to-day life in Colorado Springs, short stories written by Gerald Spaulding, photographs of the family farm, an account of the Spaulding House hotel, and an account of G.H..
